AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that breaks conventional expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the official release, "A strange confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of forbidden practices and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret group.
The mission concentrates on "bizarre trials and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Additional Features
Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Content
This update also brings the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
